Buy A Florida Business With Your Pension Plan or IRA

November 1, 2013

By using a Self Directed IRA, LLC to make the investment you as the manager of the LLC have checkbook control of your retirement funds…you make the decisions of when and where your retirement funds will be invested.

When you find a Florida business that you want to purchase…you write a check from your Self-Directed IRA, LLC bank account to purchase the investment product in the LLC’s name. There is no need to  obtain approvals from your custodian. There are no time delays in awaiting approval from your custodian. There are no review fees and transaction fees to pay.

Banks and brokerage companies – the most common IRA account custodians – limit your choices to certificates of deposit, stocks, mutual funds, annuities, and similar financial instruments as it is in their own self interest to do so – they make their money from the sale of these types of investments.  They will generally offer only their own captive (commissionable) products as investments to their Self-Directed IRA account holders severely limiting the investment choices you have available.

If the option of using tax-deferred funds to purchase investments, property, mortgages, tax liens and other alternative investments in your retirement planning sounds appealing, you will need an independent IRA Custodian that permits truly self-directed IRA investments.  By using an independent IRA custodian that does not offer affiliated investment products, you will have the ability to direct your retirement funds invested to any qualified investment that meets your investment requirements without institutionally imposed restrictions.
